Paralives Update: Homunculus Babies Gone, Streets Cleaned

Paralives is trying to carve out a unique place among life simulation games like The Sims. Updates throughout the game's early access period have included both new features and fixes shaped by community feedback. The latest patch is one of the best examples of this: on one hand, baby appearances have been overhauled, and on the other, issues like dead bodies piling up on the streets have been addressed.

Strengthening Bonds with Your Loved Ones

One of the most notable innovations in the patch is the increase in relationship-focused interactions. Friends and family members can now hug each other, and those who reach a high enough friendship level can start living together. Additionally, small but life-saving details like being assigned to a specific side of the bed have been added. The game's existing romantic interactions, such as kissing and cuddling, can now be triggered more easily by clicking on the bed or the character. These kinds of innovations give players the opportunity to strengthen the emotional bond they form with their characters. Especially for long-time players, the diversification of social interactions is a significant plus.

Are Babies Cuter Now?

The most talked-about aspect of the update is the appearance of babies. In the previous version, babies had a design that most players found off-putting, resembling little homunculi. The developers, taking the feedback into account, have made babies more familiar and cuter. Of course, this change may not please everyone; in fact, some players may look back on that old 'ominous' look with nostalgia. The patch notes also state that babies are now born directly into the parent's arms, instead of 'dropping onto the sidewalk' as in the previous version. Thus, the moment of birth becomes both more emotional and more logical. While the appearance of babies is a matter of taste, such details show how seriously the life simulation is taken.

Order and Death in Melino

There are also significant improvements on the world side. The game's city of Melino now has street names and addresses, making it easier to keep track of which lot is where. The ability to show townsfolk on the map has been added as an optional setting. Additionally, there are new floor textures for decoration enthusiasts. Perhaps the funniest but equally necessary fix in the update is that dead characters will no longer lie on the streets for days. Previously, the accumulation of dead bodies caused visual clutter and undermined the game's sense of realism. On the other hand, the average lifespan of characters has been increased from 98 days to 112 days. This makes it possible for a Para to experience more during their lifetime. Players will even see that characters in their homes can play Dorfromantik; this small easter egg-like detail is a fun addition to the game's cultural references.

The Real Beauty of Early Access

Paralives' early access process is a great example of how player feedback shapes the game. An update can both change the appearance of babies and clear the streets of dead bodies. This shows how quickly the community's requests are addressed. In the coming period, Paralives is expected to bring many things that The Sims doesn't do or offers via paid packs, through free updates. For now, players can craft new stories in a more livable Melino with this patch. Although the new look of the babies will likely continue to be debated, the improvements are generally well received.
