How do you plan PUBG secret rooms without wasting the whole match?

I know roughly where the keys and rooms are, but by the time I reach one the circle has usually moved and I am out of position.

Do you plan the drop around it from the start, or treat it as opportunistic and only go if it happens to be close? Interested in how people weigh the risk against just playing the zone.
